Coming off Mirtazapine and starting Sertaline

Hi, I have been on 45mg a day of Mirtazapine for about a year, at first I felt like I had my life back, but now huge depression, suicidal and major anxiety, I have also put on 3stone from Mirtazapine, which I am finding impossible to loose. Today my GP has changed me to 100mg of Sertaline. Has anyone else been changed from Mirtazapine to Sertaline? If so, how have you found it? Im praying that this works, this is such a horrible illness Thank youx

Just wait for the possitive effects to have an effect on you. Excercise, meditation, yoga or dancing can help also. All the best,

I changed from paroxetine in October to Sertraline 50mg & the dose was gradually increased to maximum 200mg in February this year.. I was Severely depressed, Suicidal (& massive anxiety of which I've never experienced before).
so scary are these feelings, I still get them from time to time & still have. Depression.
I struggle to leave the house also.
There are unpleasant side effects which I encountered too, but would willing take those over the depression & anxiety any day.
please see your Gp & be honest with them. They might increase your meds & signpost you for help.
I really do sympathise, it feels like you're the only person in the world feeling like this, but there's many of us going through the nightmare too.
Try to have something in your diary to do each day, even simple tasks.
Take care, big hugs,
Carol x😀

I too was started on Mirtazapine way back and it didn't work for me, I also gained wieght, my DR changed me to setraline 100mg, still no difference after 12 months, then he upped my dose to 150mg a day, I have been taking this for nearly a year and I didn't really see any difference, the side effects far out weighed the positive (if there was any) anyway now 3 stone over weight and waiting for my 2nd hip opp this month, I decided to stop taking them, my GP said drop it down to 50mg a day for a week then every other day till my pills were gone ,it's now been 3 days since I stopped andI feel kinda wierd panicky again, but I think its withdrawl , I was so fed up with the cocktail of drugs every morning so now I'm off I'm gonna stay off, I'm thinking of trying acupunture after my opp, hope all this helps you in some small way,
feel better soon,
hugs Lynne.
