Coming off of Sertraline

Hi all

I was prescribed sertraline about 9 months ago. Ive slowly been lowering my own dose as I've found my dr useless..

I haven't taken any for about 5 days now.

I have subsequently been extremely tired (mainly body), a little snappy, had insanely bad headaches and a little bit of nausea. I've also been put off of some foods I usually love.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Any advice please?

Thanks!

    Hi,

I took Sertraline (200mg a day) for about a year, eventually I told my GP I wanted to come off them.

I tapered the dose down from 200mg to 0, dropping 50mg every 4 weeks.

The one side effect I had were sharp zapping like sensations in my head.

Whilst slightly unpleasant this only lasted about 2 - 3 weeks.

Lana, I had experienced all of these side effects initially after I got off the med. What was your dose and are you tapering off slowly?? More importantly, what were you taking it for? For me, usually after I stop it, not long I come crashing down with OCD, anxiety, panic attacks, depression. I know you think your doc is useless...perhaps you need to find another one? Take care.
