Coming off pred

Posted , 11 users are following.

hi all I was told to reduce pred 1 mg a month, every thing seemed ok when I was on 2mg a month. At the beginning of this month down to 1 mg, since then have suffered all the pain back again feeling sick all the time, no appetite. It really feels like it was when I was supposedly misdiagnosed. Any help would be gratefully received. I will be contacting the Dr tomorrow to see if this is withdrawal symptoms and how long does it go on for.

I can understand how you feel. After the dreadful week I've had very painful and feeling sick I really don't want to drop to 1mg again even though I didn't want to take them at the beginning. When I was told it wasn't pmr but arthritis I was angry to think I had taken these tablets for a year. I believe now I do have pmr with arthritis as well. I have an app at the blood clinic next week so will get an up to date reading of inflammation.

My CRP was something like 11 last time, (here 10 and below is considered good). A year ago I think it was 7, lowest it's ever been. Doctor tells me to go by symptoms, she's always told me this. It was my idea to experiment to see if what I was feeling now was "only" OA. Considering how much worse I began to feel I think it is more than OA. And I've certainly given enough time for withdrawal symptoms to have gone. I have known I have OA for many years, and have the x-rays to prove it.
