    hi don

not sure if 100mg was too high for you, personally i dont think you have been on them long enough at 100mg, the increase from 50mg to 100mg will ,can start the usual side effects and can go on for at least 2 months for some even longer,so to try them for 5 weeks it may not have eben enough for you, if your feeling better than you originaly did maybe the meds are just starting to work and you, and  maybe coming off them too soon,if the later is right and you are feeling better that you want to come off them then yes it does have to be done very slowly in deed and not over a month or so, you will and can get the thoughts it's part of the reduciton in the meds also the low mood, but again it doesn,t mean it will subside , it could but again you have to remember did you come off them too soon, my treatment was 50mg to start and now on 100mg along with propronolol and i have no intention of coming off just yet as i have been feeling wonderfull most of the weeks, this has taken me 6-7 months todate and the first 3 months were hell and i seriously mean hell, so yes there is a great opertunatly for all of us to get well, but donr rush and dont expect results in 3 months , some lucky ones do but i wasn't one of them .the low mood if awefull and this triggers your symtoms side effects, now if your low mood, how are you going to fix that with nothing to correct it, which could be a shortage of  serratonine  which your ssri will replace for you, it's a tough call either coming off meds are the cause of your low mood which hopefully it will eventually dissapear, or coming of meds and not getting the serratonine supplement is the cause of your low mood.i'm supprised the doc is still happy for you to come off the meds if you have low mood, low mood must not be taken casualy it needs sorting out asap for you, happiness is your target not sadness, hope you get it sorted , take care

Hello Don, my dr told me to stay on the meds for at least 6 months from the time I started to feel well again, not 6 months in total and I understand you need to come off them very slowly, giving yourself at least 4 weeks to even out before each reduction so can take months of weaning off them.
