I'm no expert. But I think it's done over a few weeks not a week.
i would defornatly talk to another doctor.
but I recently got intouch with central and north west London NHS foundation trust
for some advice. You can email or telephone think it's a free phone number.
Or go talk to a pharmacist. Anything like our area can take weeks to get a doctors aptmt
good luck

Hi Mo69 , I think that's to quick ,one every other day for first week then ,one every two days for the second week and so on . You need to do it slowly. Because you have only been on it for a short time I think you will be fine . Good luck .

Hi Mo, I think you should taper much more slowly than this. If this is your second time on it you may want to stay on it longer. I don't know why you're on it, but just make sure when you stop the symptoms don't come back like in a relapse. Take care.

Hi Mo,
I've been on sertraline 50mg for only 3 weeks. When I started, I discussed with my GP how we would go about coming off it and he said when I'm ready it would be a case of either stopping right away or taking one every other day for about a week. I think that's probably standard GP advice for what is the lowest dose, and your side effects would probably not be too bad and not last long.
Personally I would take it slower and give yourself time to see that you can carry on with all the things you've covered in counselling as you taper off.
Why not take 1/2 tablet (25mg) for a couple of weeks and see how you go? You could then stop altogether or take 1/2 every other day for 1-2 weeks. It's good that you are still seeing a counsellor and checking in with them about your medication - just go at your pace and don't worry about going back to GP if you feel you need to. Well done on getting to this stage.

Saw the doctor who prescribed in first place and he agrees more or less with the decision of the other doctor. One every other day although he says maybe over 3 weeks. Will see how I go. If I feel any problems will go back and start again. I don't feel the counselling is going anywhere was more than willing to go
and try but seems pretty pointless she said it was a half hour session to assess where I need to be. Exactly the same questions in half hour "chat" on phone months ago. Had to fill a form in to take with me "questions". Already had one after phone call which I returned. Three weeks before next appointment as she has training. Don't think that is the answer she just said she would give it some thought as to how to go forward.

It's a shame you have a long break in the counselling. Sounds like it is CBT you are doing? Try to keep at it and see how your next sessions pan out.

Original doctor says one every other day for a week is fine but maybe do it over three weeks see how I go. He says I am on the lowest dose 50mg. So going to give it a try hate this brain fog., I haven't any functions coming up until June and that is what causes my anxiety. Never bothered me before but it is more than likely the fact I don't go out socialising anymore. But as you get to my age you don't have any desire. When you are young your parents say you cannot go out and when you get older you don't want too.
