Coming off sertraline

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have been on 50mg of sertraline for 12 weeks but due to constant stomach issues and running to the loo 4/5 times a day I decided that I would wean myself off them . Doctor is aware. I’m on my 3rd week of 25mg but with constant awful headaches and insomnia through the roof. Nausea has kicked in yesterday as well, and fatigue. Is it best to stick at 25mg till these side effects subside before reducing to 12.5mg?

I am in the same boat. Down from 50mg to 25mg over the past 2 weeks. I have tummy, headache issues but sleep is ok most nights despite several awakenings. I plan to reduce to 12.5mg in the next week. Everyone is different so you can only gauge how things will go once you do the next dose reduction. Most sites advise a gradual approach. Good luck!

Hi Tania - I've just done my final taper so I can completely understand where you're coming from.   I would hang still where you are until your symptoms subside, or at least settle down to a level you feel you can cope with.   I've just tapered Gabapentin and did it that way . . . it took longer but the final drop wasn't as bad as it could have been.   I'm a firm believer in slow tapering so give your body chance to go with the changes.  Wishing you well.

can i ask how you took your pills? with food, just with water?

also, did you need to burp a lot?

Hi, I took mine with water in a morning, sometimes with food , sometimes without. I do burp but I think that’s the anxiety

did you have other stomach issues besides the diarrhoe?

i am pretty sure, the burping is caused by zoloft. does it also feel like you have a balloon trapped inside your stomach?

did you ever experiece any differences between taking it without food than taking it with it?

      thanks smile
