Hi, please can I get some advice - i started taking sertraline only 40mg the lowest dose for post natal depression I wasn't in the best place. however had felt so much better and id missed tablets and felt fine but its now been a week and I have suffered from terrible headaches - do not sleep great and I am feeling extremely agitated.

are these normal side effects and given its now been a week should i stay off and ride out these symptoms?

Hi Tara, You didn't say how long you've been on it...its always best to ask your DR how to come off an anti-depressant, however after a week, if you haven't been on it very long(a few months) it should be starting to leave your system, it can take a few weeks for your body to get used to not having it and those are withdrawl side effects right now...you may gradually start feeling better but, if your symptoms are concerning, it cannot hurt to ask your DR about maybe a taper if you've been on it a while and the symptoms are not getting better...Good Luck, hopefully you're feeling better soon...BEST WISHES💒🎶♾🌈🐾🍀☮

I agree with Sgt. Lindalee. My doctor told me when coming off a medication the quickest way to flush it out of your system is to drink oodles of water, at least 8 full glasses a day, and to eat lots of fruits and vegetables as the anti-oxidents also help to flush your system. But the feelings of withdrawal should wane over time.
