Coming off Zoloft - any advice?

Posted , 7 users are following.

hey guys,

6 months on zoloft and tapering off.

I was on 100mg and two weeks ago i went to 87.5mg. Tomorrow I will reduce to 75mg. This is slower than my doctor recommended? Can anyone weigh in on this? Am I being too careful or not careful enough?

Ive also started fish oil tablets as ive heard they can help.

Hi James, good on you for reducing your medication. I think that's a great start to getting better and progressing. I would recommend that you wait a few more weeks in between each time you do reduce your dosage. This will give your body and brain more time to adjust and much better for you long term.

I am a CBT therapist and can help if you need any further support in the future. My website is www.nourished-renewed.me I wish you all the very best James.

You are doing the right thing I came off 50mg a day after 6 months on them by reducing by approx 10% every two weeks and experienced few side effects. Still having ups and downs 0but not on any meds. Good luck for the future.

Hi James, I was on 100 at the beginning of the year and now down to 50mg. I think the slower the better with less side effects. Last year I did it too quickly which caused the anxiety to rise. I hope this helps James. Hope you have a good weekend. K.
