Coming off Zopiclone

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have used Zopiclone for over 10 years. i have stuck to the prescribed dose of 7.5 mg most of the time but recently, i have developed anxiety which my GP thinks is probably a result of the long term use. I'm therefore trying to get off it and stopped 6 days ago. I have been prescribed diazepam to help with the anxiety - which it does. But now I've read that diazepam works in almost exactly the same way as zopiclone so I am worried that taking it will be having no effect in terms of my brain recovering and i will simply be exchanging one form of addiction for another. Has anyone got any experience of coming off zopiclone after long term use, how long the withdrawal symptoms last and, in particular whether using diazepam to ease the resulting anxiety is a wise move.
