HPV Scare

Can you get HPV from someone who is positive and who has performed oral sex on you? And also kissed? This particular person is a woman and so am I. She told me she received her positive HPV results from a papsmear and did not mention having HPV in the mouth. I'm scheduled to take my test tomorrow to find out, so obviously I plan on testing any way. But I need to know how worried I should be.

For more context, it's been almost 3 weeks since our encounter. No outbreaks. But I also know HPV is usually asymptomatic, and I probably just said all of that to comfort myself. But any information would be really helpful.

Thanks.

While there is a lower chance, there is still the risk of getting HPV from a kiss.....

Regarding oral sex, the chance is very much higher.

Next time, I'd recommend using dental dams or condoms... just some kind of protective barrier over each other's genitalia when you do oral sex.

Thank you for this. I actually ended up testing negative but will definitely be more careful in the future!
