After MVD. surgery

I do not have TN pain. I had a terrible headache for a month but nothing compares to the pain from TN. In the beginning when I first started with TN I thought it was bad pain but as it progressed the pain was worse then I ever imaged. I do not have any of that now. I have nerve damage to the entire left side of my face. I was not prepared for that. I am grateful to be free of the pain. I take the medicine for the paralysis on my left side. I am hoping it gets better. You can not tell by looking at me that I can barely swallow from extreme dry mouth, my lips feel swollen and they burn all the time(I buy 1 tube of chap stick a week) when I eat I bite my lip and the inside of my cheek. Thst all seems trivia compared to the pain. I go to the After mvd.surgery page and some people have the surgery done twice and still suffer. I feel so sorry for these people. I do not think we check out the side effects of the surgery. We just want the pain to stop. I hope this answered your reply.

Hello!
I just had the MVD surgery this past Tuesday. My pain is also gone. However when I woke up I had a horrible headache for several days. I have also been very nauseous. It's been hard for me to get my appetite back. I'm so glad your pain is gone. I agree with you 100%. I didn't look at all the after side effects because honestly I didn't care. I figured nothing could be as bad as the pain I had been going through. I'm also struggling with my hearing on my right side but my TN pain is gone so in my opibi

Consider the positioning of your head during surgery......I believe that's the cause of the headaches. The 2nd cranial vertebrae, which is called the headache bone, is probably out of place and needs adjusting. Try either a chiropractor of massage therapist. That will help a lot! I waited a month before I went to the chiropractor, but should have gone sooner.

Hi Kathy, glad your pain is gone. My surgery was 9 weeks ago. Pain is gone, numbness in face still there. Headaches were brutal for a month but two visits with a chiropractor and two massages fixed that. I also have dry mouth and have bitten into my cheek, but still beats the pain! Oh, and I have double vision and will be seeing a vision specialist next month. You're right about just wanting the pain to stop and not considering side affects. Sometimes I actually wonder if I did the right thing. It certainly has changed me on the inside in that I feel more incapacitated then before. Sorry, I sound like a negative Nellie!

Jewell - I didn't give side effects a thought before my MVD either. I had awful double vision and light sensitivity afterwards. I am almost 4 months out now and my vision is so much better (finally!) - it's not perfect but I was able to return to work (new glasses). I'm still trying to avoid prism glasses at this point ... I have numbness and tingling on the right side of my face but NO PAIN NOW : )
