Common colds and Sertraline

This may sound odd... but, my anxiety seems to have increased at night over the last couple of days. This coincides with my getting a cold. Has anyone experienced an increase in side effects or general anxiety whilst suffering with a cold? Thank you.

My anxiety sky rockets when I'm sick with anything. It's especially worse when I have a sinus infection or wicked cold, because they throw my head all off, and amps my anxiety. I'm not back on sertaline yet, so I can't really comment on that.

I hope you feel better soon.

Jennifer, I don't know if it's your cold that is increasing your anxiety. My guess is that your stress from the cold increases your anxiety. Also, it's your increased stress level that probably lead to your cold because too much stress weakens your immune system. Also, from what little I know, stress attacks the weakest part of your system. Say you recovered from a leg injury but you'll find that the pain acts up out of nowhere sometimes, but it's really because of your increasd stress level. This is my guess.

Now this is might sound odd to you, one of the side effect of ssri is stuffy or runny nose. And i felt like i had cold or flu for few days but it turns out that my med gave it to me. Or you might just have cold.

I have health anxiety and we are super aware of every little thing in our bodies. So what ever we feel, our anxiety triggered.

    So it is normal.

Thank you! Ssri's are odd medications aren't they? Sometimes you can never tell whether it's the meds causing the symptoms or you! I think I need to stop analysing everything. Overthinking is my sin xx

Yip. I have had a terrible wekwend. Periods and cold mixed with increased anxiety/depressed feelings hardly sleeping... I am just a wreck just now.

However I have been. To doc this morning and she has put my mind at ease and told me that at week 6 it's common to need an increase. I have been on 50mg and on Friday I felt like after having a good week I hit a wall. She did say that catching a cold is common as your body is generally run down anyway when going through this.

Think I have just been unlucky to have caught it all at the same time.

And she has increased my dose to 100mg so here goes with the side effects all over again!
