Complete hysterectomy at 21, need advice

Posted , 5 users are following.

I've been having extreme period pain since I was in high school and I recently found out i have stage 3 (going on stage 4) endometriosis. I have never wanted children of my own and I'm not interested in trying medication so my doctor recommended I consider a complete hysterectomy. I scheduled it for Jan 15, and he will be doing it laparoscopically.

I understand that it's uncommon for women my age to go through this and I'm an anxious mess about what my life will be like after the surgery. He touched on needed to be on estrogen (and possible testosterone too) after surgery but I'm just wondering if any other YOUNG women have gone through this and can give me any insight on what things will be like for me, especially surrounding any body changes or involving my sex life. THANKS 😃

Hello Raven, It is indeed rear for a woman your age to choose such a radical solution. Total hysterectomy is not without its risk which are many.

I will advise you do a thorough research on this. Have a long discussion with your consultant. perhaps you may want to consider other treatment options and delay this for a little while. But as to sex it will not affect your sex life signficantly.

    Hello

I have a friend that has suffered from endo for many many years.. And still is at age 50.

She had a full hysterectomy at age 27 and have sufferec ever since.

It didnt cure her endo asnit can spread to nearby organs which it did.

If she could turn back time she would in a heartbeat.

She was but on oestrogen and it only fed the endo.. Viscious circle and hell for her.

The hysterectomy certainly didnt make her life easier.

I would definitely do your research before making your choice..its majir surgery.

    Good luck x
