Complex kidney cyst

I was diagnosed with a small simple kidney cyst in October 16 and told that no follow up was needed. During a ultrasound scan a few weeks ago, the report came back saying that my kidney cyst now shows internal septations and is consistent with Bosniak type 2f and needs follow up. I have been referred to a urologist however my appointment is not until July. Has anyone had a simple kidney cyst that has become complex?

    Hi Sara

    I have been treated by urology for about three years now. Originally diagnosed with numerous kidney stones and simple cysts, but was told one cyst was complex two years ago (2f). I have been followed up regularly since then, with no change to cyst. Am now on annual checkups, as oppose to six monthly ones. Was a shock at first, but am reassured that monitoring has shown cyst is stable. Hope this helps. Jayne

      Thanks Jayne. That is really helpful. Do you remember how long you waited to see a urologist after your 2f cyst was found?

    Hi Sara

    I was already under a urology consultant when they found the 2f cyst at a routine appointment, so no wait involved. You could speak to PALS at the hospital referred to about waiting time.
