Complicated Question, pls help!!!

Last night I had a friend over and we both jumped in the jacuzzi for about an hour. We then went inside and dried off. After that, he did oral on me for about 1 minute. I then did oral on him for maybe 2-3 minutes. When I backed away, I noticed he had something above the area of his penis. (Was about 2 inches away from the base of his penis).

I stopped and asked him what that was. He told me he had an ingrown hair that he got out and the thing above his penis was from cutting it and popping it. When I looked at it, it looked like a couple of ulcers that had popped. I told him it looked like a cold sore but he insisted that it wasn't. He told me he never had something like that and said it was an ingrown hair.

I immediately went to the restroom and washed my mouth out several times with Listerine and 91% rubbing alcohol (I even swallowed some rubbing alcohol). I also squirted all alcohol all over my face, mouth, nose, and chin area several times. I even sprayed down my penis area with the alcohol.

I don't think I directly touched his ulcer with my face or mouth and we had just gotten out of a chlorinated pool and his ulcers looked open, but didn't really look like they were oozzing out or anything. So I am concerned:

1) What are the chances I could have gotten infected genetally when he gave me oral for that one minute?

2) What are the chances that I could have gotten infected in my mouth with the situation as I have described it? Did the fact that I quickly washed my mouth out and face area with Listerine and Rubbing Alcohol lower the chances of infection?

3) Did the fact that we were in a warm/chlorine jacuzzi maybe help kill any of the active virus that was on him? (if it was indeed HSV)

Please help me

Also of note, I have had cold sores in the past starting in the 8th grade. But at this point of my life, (im 45 now) basically never get them maybe 1 every 4 or 5 years. Does this have any relavency to anything that happened above? Please help, I need some information. sad

Cold sores are part of the HPV virus hun, given you were in the same water area chances are its passed via that way too. X

Of you had cold sores, then if he had HSV 1 on his genitals, then there is nothing to worry about and HSV 2 has only been found in the mouth, in immune compromised patients such as those w HIV.

You are the coolest feel broken.

The ulcer he had was not ON his penis, btw...in was 1 1/2 to 2 inches above his shaft area on his pelvic area. (Nearer to his stomach). But can the HSV2 go from entering the mouth, into the body, and then down to where it affects the genital area? Just wondering.

      hat is HPV?

Human papilloma virus (HPV) is the name for a group of viruses that affect your skin and the moist membranes lining your body, for example, in your cervix, anus, mouth and throat.

HPV is a common and highly contagious infection, with over three quarters of sexually active women acquiring it at some time in their lives.

There are more than 100 types of HPV. Around 40 types of HPV infection can affect the genital area.

      What can HPV infection do?

Infection with some types of HPV can cause:

abnormal tissue growth and other changes to cells within your cervix, which can lead to cervical cancergenital warts, which is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the UK

Other types of HPV infection can cause minor problems, such as common skin warts and verrucas.

Exactly.. You just proved my point .. It is a different disease, than herpes aka human herpes virus, aka, HSV 1 & HSV 2. Herpes does not cause cervical cancer or warts like HPV does. Both diseases however, are spread by skin to skin contact and both can spread w no signs or symptom's and condoms do not fully protect from them. That's where the similarities end.

I'm glad this convo came up though, it is better for people to get infirmed w the proper education.

No.... The virus doesn't travel to other destinawlike that. It passes through mucous membrane skin, such as the mouth or genitals, but we've already covered the mouth thing w hsv 2, so stop worrying you are good to go.

Well, we all risk getting herpes w oral sex. Just because he may have ulcers on his penis, doesn't necessarily mean he has it in his mouth. If there were no signs on his mouth, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Quickly washing away does help, but won't eliminate all possible risk if transmission. If it has HSV 2, the likely hood of it passing to your mouth, is almost none. Only 1% of oral herpes cases are from HSV 2, just doesn't fair well out of it's home base.

Do not listen to booboo. Her information is completely incorrect. First off HPV and herpes are two completely different viruses. Second, that is a 1980s myth, about herpes spreading through pool water or toilet seats. If that were the case, we'd all have herpes on our genitals when we were kids, being the high number of infected people. Be careful where you get info or who you listen to.

You are worrying over nothing right now. The chance that yiu already have oral herpes is very high and most are dormant. He likely has hsv2 if he does in fact have genital herpes and no need to worry.

Do you have reason not to trust your friend to be honest w you? Request he go get tested. About 90% of people will be infected w HSV 1 by the time they're adults, so don't stress that. As long as your genitals did not rub up against his, you are safe.

      Thank you feelbroken.

So if he did have HSV2 and it somehow got into my mouth, you are saying there is very little chance it would infect my mouth?

Also, if it was HSV2 and did get into my mouth...would it then travel down to my genitals and start to give me sores on my genital areas? Is that how the HSV2 work...does it get in somewhere else and travel down to the genital area?

Thanks for your input so far, can you help me with these other questions please?

For one I'm in england and over here people say its HPV so I'm sorry if u think my info is ring but that is what I got told I have

Aaahh.... No honey booboo.... They most certainly do not call HPV herpes in the UK and I will have Archemedes who is a doctor in the UK back that up, if you're so convinced. Please show me your resources where that is what it is said. These are two completely different viruses.

HPV cannot be detected in a blood test like HSV. They are not even remotely similar to be called cousins. HPV low risk strains cause warts and high risk causes cervical cancer. I don't think it is wrong, I know it is wrong and I can prove it w resources. Provide your resources please. HPV effects the skin of the genital region and lives in the skin. HSV is Human Herpes Virus Simplex, which lives in our nerves. Hsv 1 is in our trimengial ganglia and HSV 1 & 2 lives in the sacral ganglia. HSV causes a myraid of symptoms that HPV does noy and you can't even treat HPV w antivirals such as valtrex, for HSV. This isn't a matter of opinion, this is fact.

You need to find a new doctor ASAP if this is what they are telling you and I have found over in the UK, the greatest last of knowledge in STDs, it's shameful and scary. I think you have it mixes up, becuae I remember you from another post and you have both genital warts and herpes from what I can remember. They are two totally different diseases. Prove me wrong w websites to medical literature on it then.

HPV is short for human papillomavirus and is a group of more than 150 related viruses. Each HPV virus in this large group is given a number which is called its HPV type. HPV is named for the warts (papillomas) some HPV types can cause. Some other HPV types can lead to cancer, especially cervical cancer. There are more than 40 HPV types that can infect the genital areas of males and females. But there are vaccines that can prevent infection with the most common types of HPV.

That is exactly what I'm saying. Let's just say hypothetically speaking you did get it in your mouth, studies have proved it will either never break out or breakout once ans never breakout again, w shedding maybe once every ten yrs.

Lol... No.. They can no auto-innoculate like that. They arw contracted based on skin to skin contact. HSV 1 & 2 share 50% of the same DNA, but are still different.

You're worrying over nothing, I'm telling you. As long as you did not have genital yo genital or anal contact w his genitals, then atop worrying. Now keep this in mind, condoms do not give you full protection. They provide about 30% protection front herpes and HPV, as they do not cover the entire genital area. SI be careful in the future.

    Hi,

I haven't read this whole thread but if there is any confusion here HPV is Human Papilloma Virus, HSV is Herpes Simplex Virus and the two cause different issues.

    HPV

    https://patient.info/health/human-papillomavirus-hpv-immunisation

There is a full guide to HSV below although it is aimed at doctors. There are plenty of patient leaflets on Herpes on patient.info.

Thank you do much, it's scary to think people and especially doctors would be interchangeably using HPV & HSV.

So since you're in the UK, now maybe she'll believe me that this a universal thing and they ate never called both HPV.

I am sorry I was wrong I'm just the Muppet with both the HPV n hsv I do apologise I just got mixed up x

Not sure if that's sincere or passive aggressive... Likely the latter... Of having a disease made people and expert, then the world would be full of experts.... Diseases like HPV & HSV are such epidemics because of the ignorance and lack of proper education and testing on them. Nobody called you a Muppet, it's just a matter of ensuring proper info is disseminated. No reason to take such offense yo being corrected, because you didn't know better. Listen w intent to learn and understand, not just to reply.
