Complications from Venlafaxine withdrawal

Hi all,

Recently I've been trying to taper off of venlafaxine, but was going off too quickly and wound up experiencing some very harsh withdrawal symptoms.

This is the second time it's happened, and last time after resuming my usual dosage, I was fine. This time however, my stomach has been messed up for days.

Previously I was eating around 2700 calories a day, and managing to lose a bit of weight. However, since the withdrawals, I've only been able to eat maybe around 1000 calories a day if I'm lucky, and after any meal I wind up feeling overfull for the rest of the day, and I feel nearly ready to throw up at any moment, and have often done so. For example yesterday, I had a sandwich for breakfast, and a small amount of dinner maybe 8 hours later and wound up vomiting shortly after dinner because I was overfull.

This is extremely disheartening and I've never experienced anything of the sort. Had anybody else experienced anything like this? It's been about a week now.

Hi, no I've never experienced anything like this. I suggest you return to your doctor and have some assessments due ne. This may not be related to Efexor in any way.

I've done some more reading on the symptoms I'm having, and from what I can tell it sounds like I'm experiencing esophageal dysphagia. Looks like it's a listed side effect of Effexor, albeit a very rare one.

Any chance anybody has any advice or experience with that? I have an appointment with my doctor on the 31st, and I'm trying to get in to see him sooner if I can, but in the meantime it would be nice to feel like I can actually eat food.
