Hi everyone. I am a 33 year old male. I have never been diagnosed with IBS, but for a number of years I have been experiencing symptoms which may suggest I have it, or worryingly - something more serious. I definitely suffer from health anxiety and try visit the doctors twice per years for bloods and physical check up.

The symptoms I experience are

  • intermittent lower abdominal discomfort. Not pain but like a tugging sensation of intestines. This comes and goes for the last few years. I could go 6 months with no discomfort and then experience it on/off for 2 months

  • I pass stools 3/4/5 per day.. But activity is mainly in morning. it could be linked to my coffee intake but stools vary from diahorrea, watery, thin, to normal firm size

  • I pass wind quite regularly

  • my fibre intake is not amazing but is improving

  • I never suffered with bloody stools (that is evident at least)

  • i never get a fever

  • I have no history of colon cancer in my family

But ultimately, that is what I am worried about. I know it is extremely rare for my age group but it seems to be growing more prominent. I am not sure what I am looking for here - i just feel a little lost and trying to read over threads to find people in a similar situation and maybe get some advice. Does it sound like i have IBS or worse?

Hi. i would say its IBS bought on by your anxiety. I have anxiety back at the moment and I know my bowel issues are down to my anxiety. Its always worse in the morning, as is my anxiety and is totally linked. When im not anxious my bowel is fine unless I was to eat something too spicy or have a lot of alcohol.
