7 weeks ago I fractured my 5th metatarsal but today I noticed another concerning looking thing on my xray:

does anyone have an idea what that could be? that part of foot does not hurt by itself but it is definitely sensitive if/when I touch it and press

It looks like it should have been pinned to keep it straight during healing. It's just a laymens opinion, so you probably need to ask the doctor who treated you.

it was not pinned - just a medical shoe and crutches for 4 weeks.
I'm going to see my doctor just in couple of days to find out more but in the meantime I was just curious what are those "lines" on the attached picture - it's definitely not a artifact as it is present from many angels and on many pictures

Hi, I'm a dental student not a doctor, but these lines generally form in direction of stress - they are totally normal and seen in nearly all bones! You probably found it was tender due to all the inflammation around the area
Hope you have healed well! I'm currently dealing with spiral shaft fracture of same bone. No fun
