Concerns about Alcon Acrysoft IOL

I am scheduled for my first cataract eye surgery on March 5. I have selected to do a toric monofocal lens set for distance with mini monovision. I was told the lens my surgeon uses is the Alcon Acrysoft. I have read comments that this lens causes glimmering and, also, a diamond shaped reflection (cat-eye) that can be seen by, and is disturbing, to others. I would like to avoid the glimmering and, even though it is cosmetic, I don't want to feel self-conscious about the appearance of my eyes and want to avoid the "cat-eye" reflection, too. Can anyone who has had this lens implanted share with me your experience with these two issues? I'm hoping my concerns are unfounded but right now I am filled with anxiety and indecision about my upcoming surgery.

I had the same lenses put in for my cataract surgery and have that 'cat eye reflection' in my right eye only. I would say it's more like a circle than a diamond shape glimmer for me, and it only happens I notice when a light hits it just right (usually a light source coming from directly behind me). It's not really that disturbing to me, it's just a little strange looking when it happens. It can be a good conversation starter though, lol!

Hi Michael...thank you for your comments! You have a great attitude. I am a bit shy and did not want to feel self conscious about looking people in the eye so I opted for a Tecnis lens to avoid this side effect. My first surgery went well and hoping my second will go smoothly, too.

dont think they make acrysof anymore. if you are going to have the surgery get the alcon clareon version. if you already have acrysof and are worried about glistening you can have the doctor check it.
