concerns after complications during surgery

I had cataract surgery a week ago. THey got the cataract out, but the lens capsule collapsed due to zonular dialysis. The surgeon left the capsule in the eye. He then inserted a phakic IOL in the anterior chamber. My vision is 2200/20 in the operated eye, the other eye is correctable to 20/40, so I was put on short term disability. The surgeon said that in 8 weeks he will remove the stitiches which will improve my vision, but that the capsule is now floating in my field of vision, so he may have to laser it. Is lasering the capsule the best solution? Is this just bad luck on my part or was this some kind of error/mistake? I am out of work now for the 8 weeks at least, which is extremely frustrating and boring. I can't see well enough to do almost anything I enjoy, and I feel confined to the house to avoid any chance of infection. Any suggestions? I have already started some books on tape, but I would like to feel productive in some way.

Shay type of laser do you know.

i had similiar issue and a YAG laser was used. Its used for (YAG Laser) Posterior Capsulotomy After Cataract Surgery. The most common complication of cataract surgery is clouding of the part of the lens covering (capsule) that remains after surgery, called posterior capsule opacification.

it did not help and the vision is worse that before cataract surgery. I have not had mush luck regaining vision in that eye.

i hope you can regain vision and see another specialist before laser surgery.

Hi, I have been out of work for over a year and a half due to breast cancer and was planning to go back to work until I had cataract surgery done 2 months ago which left me with double vision due to the surgeons error. Now I really can't return to work . Unfortunately I don't have any advise because it seems we're in the same boat
