I've just been prescribed 20mg of citalopram daily, and now I'm worried about taking them, I struggle with my weight and have lost 3st over the last 2yrs.. My doctor assured me there were no side affects but he is a new doctor at my surgery and has no idea of my back ground. He didn't talk to me or seem interested in what I was saying, he literally typed in his computer and prescribed me them - 2 months worth! And I had to ask him if he wanted to see me again once they'd finished or before... Now I'm apprehensive and don't know what to do for the best. Help!!!Â

Your doctor doesn't sound to helpful at all.
I know we are all different but, I lost over 35lbs in the first month of taking catalopram. The medication seemed to really suppress my appetite.
I found the medication beneficial in the main but I did get some initial side effects which were short lived.
When are you thinking of starting them?
Wishing you every success in your step to recovery xxx

I will be honest the first couple of weeks were quite difficult for me. In saying that there are an awful lot of people who don't get any side effects.
I'm so glad I stuck out the first couple of weeks as the catalopram does definitely improve depression and anxiety. I think you will find it fairly common that people lose their appetite on this med and i have heard many people staring they have lost weight. So please don't worry too much about gaining weight! You may be one of the lucky ones who get no side effects. But if you do they will pass quickly. Let me know how you feel tomorrow xx you may find your sleep disturbed a bit when you first start xxx
Here for you if you need me xx
