i had endscopy in March biopsy was taken for barretts

my Barretts histology reads No Intestinal Metaplasia present and therefore no clear evidence of Barrett's. Though depending on the level of the biopsy the present of Glandular Mucosa might in itself suggest barrets.

no evidence of dysphasia or malignancy is seen in material examined.

can anyone understand this report as I am unsure wether I have Barrett's. I have had no other information from hospital

unfortunately I am a worrier

    Hi

I experienced very similar where my consultant said he wasnt convinced that I had Barretts, as the endoscopy showed only very slightly, but my symptons very getting increasingly worse, with chronic stomach pains also, so I insisted that they do further tests and a further endoscopy, which did show increased Barretts, he is now saying my gut just appears to have become ultra-sensitive, it can be very frustrating, but I would insist on getting to the bottom of it.

    regards

I am a worrier too but find that this makes my Barratt's worse! So try to do and think things that take your mind off the problem. You need to contact the hospital that did your endoscopy to double check your results and explain things. I did the same thing and when I actually got to talk to a consultant it helped put my mind at rest. I have only 0.5cm Barratt's but my Dad died of oesophageal cancer so they have agreed to re do the endoscopy in 2 years time.
