Confused

Yesterday I asked if anyone lives near me in hertfordshire , to meet up for a coffee . The one reply I had was from a group asking for support or to join , with regards to smoking illegal substances .I am surprised that anyone can get into our mail , I thought we corresponded privately .

Sorry you have got such an email. I too thought we were on a secure site. Just been to the dr, as I have developed aches and pains all over, am so tired I can barely think straight, and he has taken some blood, and upped my prednisolone from 5mg to 7mg for three weeks. I have temporal artiritis and know that some people also develop PMR while having TA. Does anyone know of this happening?

Yes Doreen, it is possible to also get or have at the same time GCA and PMR. As I understand it the 2 conditions are "relatives " and about 1 in 5 patients who have PMR could go on to develop GCA. What the statistics are the other way round I'm not sure of. Anyone out there please correct me if I'm wrong. Your Dr seems to be looking after you and if you do have PMR and I hope you don't, your preds are dosed at 15, 12.5, 10 then a slow reduction down. So I don't think you'll ever be on as high a dose of preds as you were when first diagnosed with TA. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, all the best, christina

It is a secure site - noone can get at  your details but anyone is entitled to join and then can send a message to any other member if there is a private messaging option as there is here.

What we call PMR is the name given to a set of symptoms of an underlying disorder. It is listed as one of the symptoms for GCA, giant cell arteritis, which some people also call temporal arteritis. So as Christina says, you can have just one or you have the symptoms of both.
