Confused

Please excuse my ignorance, still learning to manage and learn about this condition. Is it possible to have type 1 herpes orally and genitally and only experience an outbreak genitally? They would both break out at the same time correct? I do not think I have it orally, I have been careful though and have not taken any chances. I was just curious and wanted to know for sure. Its been 2 months since my diagnosis and things have been eh in my life. I would very much like to talk with people who do have herpes. So if any has a FB group or would like to talk I would appreciate the company

I'm not sure if you have an outbreak in both places at the same time. I was diagnosed with HSV-1 genitals in October and I still feel as though I am learning. I got it from oral sex. I don't break out on my mouth. I have only had my initial outbreak in October and thankfully haven't had another one. But if I did it would be in the genitals again. Idk if this helps or if this was what you were wondering about but that is at least alittle bit of help at least. I hope.

It does, thank you. Main reason I am confused is because I have yet to experience an OB so idk where it is I have it.

If i understand your question correctly.

You can have hsv type 1 in both your mouth and genitals.

But thats if you were exposed to it in both those areas.

If you did have oral and genital type 1 i dont think the OB would be synchronized. Where did your first OB occur?

As far as I know I have yet to have my first OB I think. Nothing major has popped up or anything. That is why I am confused, without me having an OB I am left wondering where exactly it is I have it. I was tested two months ago and was postive for Hsv 1. Blood and urine test, a IgG test.

Hmm if you havent had an an OB then the virus is laying dormant in your system, a lot of people have the virus in their body and dont know it because they dont experience OB. You say you THINK youve never had an OB?

From what i have discovered about HSV type 1 (cold sores) , is its commonly found around or in the mouth, the viruses "site of preference". So people who have type 1 in their mouth tend to have more OB than people who have genital type 1. When type 1 is in the genital area its not in its "site of preference". So the virus wont tend to OB or shed much or at all in the genital area. But again it all depends on what part of your body you were exposed, in the mouth from kissing someone with a cold sore, or in the genital area from receiving oral for ex.

Correct, only reason I even got tested was because I got really sick two weeks after having sex with someone. I don't think it was an OB though because I was throwing up, felt tired, sore, and had a fever. Those are symptoms but my mother had the same exact thing about 2 days before that happened to me.

I did perform oral sex on the girl for a couple of minutes and then had sex with her after.

Hmm...i know people experience flu like symptoms when they first start to experience an OB, i know i did but i dont think puking is a symptom. How soon did you get your blood tested after your encounter with the girl?

Well maybe you only have it in one spot, the guy who gave it to me, well i went down on him and we also had sex afterwards....and i only had an OB in my genital area...which i thought was weird because i gave him oral so i thought i would be having an OB around my mouth too but it never happend.

If I remember correctly it was two weeks after having sex with her, 3 weeks at the most. I knew something was wrong because I would wake up in the night and notice I had some sort of discharge from my penis. I went and got tested and they told me I had Chlamydia and Type 1 herpes.

I feel as though I may have seen two small bumps on my penis at the time but I think I was just freaking myself out and trying to picture something there. If that is the case then I might just have it genitally and not orally.

So i think for you to have an accirste blood test, you're supposed to get your blood tested after 3 months because by then your body has made enough anti bodies against hsv 1 for it to show in your blood, anything before that is too soon. I cant remember if its IgG or IgM you're supposed to do.

If you didnt have sores, or at least have them swabbed and tested i dont know under what basis they can say you have type 1. In any case if you really want to know...for sure in about a month go get you blood tested...might want to look up if you do IgG or IgM and then youll know for sure if you have it. And if you do my guess is its just genital type 1 since based off what you told me you experienced symptoms in your genital area

sorry i feel im adding a lot of info hahah

Okay, I'll do that then. If its just genital then that means I can kiss people goodbye and not have to worry about it? I have just been very careful and just assumed I had it in both areas to not infect anyone accidentally. Thank you very much for your help by the way, you have been helpful

Yeah if its just genital you cant give it to someone else by kissing. But again since you arent sure if youve had an OB its hard to know where you have the virus. You might even never experience an OB which is a good thing.

And no problem i understand because i was obviously in your position at one point trying to understand all these things about the virus

But anyways good luck with with everything!

You can have the same type in both locations, although it's rare. You don't necessarily have outbreaks at the same time though.

Interesting. I ask because the female I had sex with we pretty much did everything so I mean it wasn't just oral sex. That sounds really bad haha sorry
