Confused

So I recently was diagnosed with HSV2 and have only been with 2 people. One of them was an unprotected one night stand about a year ago and the other partner is someone I've been with for several years but they have had multiple unprotected partners in the time I've known them and gave me a curable STD before. About 2 months ago after having sex with the consistent partner, I got the worst burning I've ever felt in my vagina and passed it off as a yeast infection however I think that was my first outbreak. I've been reading up that the initial outbreak can take place within 2-10 days of contact. Is it more likely that I got HSV2 from this partner than the other one? Please help!

Probably, just in terms of opportunity, although it can also take only one encounter if you're really unlucky.

Okay I'm not crazy the odds are it's the consistent partner but like you said it still could've been from the one night. Thanks!

I am in the same boat. Two partners - one I experienced a yeast infection days after, the other I experienced a full out break.

What I did is I went to my obgyn; she told me it looked like herpes and did a swab sample and a blood test. I told both partners To go get tested EVEN THOUGH neither of them show symptoms. The test to get if your partner isn't showing symptoms is the igG test - all others without symptoms would be useless.

I can't for sure tell you who it will be but the best thing to do (in my opinion) is look out for their health...

So true I'm going to tell both of them but I just kind of wanted to figure out the odds if that makes sense. I had a yeast infection a few months ago but now I'm thinking it was an outbreak and it came after a few days of contact with the consistent partner. Maybe that was the initial outbreak? It was like NOTHING I've ever felt so maybe

Yeah it can be often mistaken for yeast infections or in my case - heat rash. I have heard that mistaking it for something else is a lucky first outbreak considering the first is usually the worst. Remember no matter what their reactions are that you are doing the right thing, and it is a common misconception to mistake it for something else. Also remember even if they don't show symptoms they may still carry the virus and then should at least have the knowledge to protect themselves as well as others. The odds are that men tend to not show symptoms as fast as women do, from what I've gathered reading, many don't show signs at all. Best of luck to you. (P.s. Look up GEN003 studies! I was awfully excited to learn there may be hope!)

Thank you for sharing, the studies really did give me hope smile

Also would it make a difference if the one time random partner was unprotected (both oral & vaginal) while the consistent partner was protected for the last two years (vaginally, not orally)?
