Confused

I'll try to get to the point. I tested positive for herpes a year ago. When I found out, I took the meds they prescribed like the first 1.5 - 2 months (it's difficult to keep up with it) since then, without meds, I've had sex and haven't had any symptoms. My very recent ex who I've stupidly had unprotected sex with numerous time, at the time I found out, got tested about a week after I found out. He was NEGATIVE. And again I haven't shown any symptoms in the year i was notified. And now I have something that resembles a rash, bug bit infection, or poison ivy. BUT DOESNT ITCH. Just sore when I bump into it or crouch down. What is it??

Could be an outbreak. You can get it swabbed to find out. How were you originally diagnosed? Visually, swab, IgG, IgM, other? How was your ex tested? The test type matters, including the index values in the case of IgG.

After a first out break of herpes,it can lay dormant for over 20 years. I had a out break about 27 years ago and  just got a outbreak last year. I thought I would be the first person in history to never have a second outbreak.(wrong). I only take valtrex when I get a sore. It sounds to me like you have rub rash. I am no spring chichen any more and out of the scene,so my advice to you  is  please take care when having sex. there are a lot worse things to get. One night of fun can lead to a life time of regret, and misery

Wow it's been so long since you had an outbreak .

So when you did get your second outbreak . Was it as worse as the first one ?

How has dating and everything been for you ?

Do you have any children? Just wondering as I'm post birth now and have only had one outbreak years ago and now feel like I'm having back to back....

My outbreaks before having my lo were about 1-2 times per year. A couple of weeks postpartum, my outbreaks became weekly. It's due to the stress your body is under. Lack of sleep. Change in diet. Etc.. Mine lasted about 6 weeks. The was 7 months ago and everything is back to normal. Just try to relax and rest as much as possible. Good luck and congrats!

    Don't feel bad .

Got diagnosed with herpes in December of 2015.

Me and my boyfriend actually had sex during my first active outbreak (didn't actually know it was an outbreak)

To this day we have unprotectected sex very often . I'm not on any suppressive medicine or anything.

They said that the blood test wouldn't be active and reliable until after 4/6 months of the virus being in my system ..

Since December of 2015 he has had 3 blood tests done , they can't do a culture swab because he hasn't managed to have any bumps or anything like that .

All of the blood work has come back negative ., so I am too confused by this .

I haven't had a outbreak since my first one.

But your best bet would be to get it checked out .
