Confused

I suffer quite a lot from urine infections but havnt had one for 16 months until 2 weeks ago I was then given cefefexin which always works for me but this time I finished them 8 days ago and come down with another infection 4 days ago which was put on cefeflexin again my infection seems to have gone but my course of antibiotics don't finish unit Tuesday I seen my doctor today and she said results of the infection was back and to take amoxicillin as cefefexin as stopped being percribed for a few years I asked her do I stop the cefeflexin now and start the amoxicillin and she just said all I can say is that's the results back from the lab and basically rushed me out of her room I'm so confused weather I should stop cefelexin now and start amoxicillin

    Your post is unclear.   My understanding is that 4 days ago you started your second course of Cefalexin before your culture was back from the lab.  Now the culture is back and the doctor recommends Amoxicillin.  That indicates to me that the culture sensitivity report indicated Cefalexin was not sensitive to the bacteria you have an Amoxicillin is.  Based on that, I would top the Cefalexin and start Amoxicillin.  

     

    The other thing I would do is get a copy of my lab report and think about changing doctors.  Not answering a question like the one you asked is very unprofessional.

      I know she just rushed me I did see on the screen that amoxicillin was one of the tablets for me 2 take but I'm fine now on the exceedingly I wanted her advice on that and shouldn't give it I think im going just start the amoxicillin just in case it comes back as I'm on holiday in 2 weeks and want 2 get this sorted

    Hi, Joan!

    I suggest you also start taking some probiotics to repopulate the beneficial bacteria in your body.  That should help, too.
