Confused with infection

i was tested back in July 12th 2022 for every std there was and they all came back negative. the reason for my doing this is because my partner of 15 years cheated on me and I slept with him after he cheated. I was relived that the test came back negative. I believe he started cheating in April possible May. Now moving forward I had sex with him again Sept 17th 2022 because I thought all was good and I have never in our 15 year relationship ever cheated on him. well the other day I felt a sore around the out side but close to the opening of my vagina. I called my dr and went in Oct 12th and she did a culture as well as blood test which both came up positive for hsv2 herpes 2. I am devastated beyond belief. Well I told him and he told the girl he was having sex with. He goes in to get tested tomorrow. Am I correct in assuming this had to be a new infection from this girl because in our 15 years we never had any problems. what if he comes up negative? he is going to automatically think that I cheated which I never did and this is too damn serious to be messing with. The only explanation I come up with is she gave it to him and he in turn gave it to me. i am driving myself crazy thinking every scenario and at my age I certainly never thought he would ever cheat but he did and now here we are. anxiety threw the roof HELP me make sense of this please

If he gets tested +ve, then its probably because of that girl he is cheating on. Otherwise you might've contracted it by touching a herpes region of someone like hands etc.

i was tested 3 months earlier for all stds and they all came up negative. my question now is since it was negative 3 months ago and positive now did I get it within the past few months or could I have had it all along?

Its evident you got the virus after your first test because herpes has an incubation period of 2-14 days, this means it gets detected in tests only after this time frame.

If you had the virus from long your first test wouldnt be negative
