confusing mole biopsy results

Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice about whether or not I need to get a second professional opinion on a mole I recently had removed. I went for my annual skin check 6 months ago with a new dermatology PA, and she decided to remove a mole I had because I said it was relatively new and she thought it looked abnormal. A week later, she called to tell me it was a dysplastic nevus and "precancerous," but not to worry because the lab confirmed all the cells had been removed. Recently I noticed there are two small freckles growing right where the mole was removed. I brought this up at my skin check today with a new PA (the old one left the practice after telling me I should come back in 6 months), and she told me repigmentation was normal since they did a shave biopsy. I told her I was surprised because the other doctor said it was precancerous and all the cells had been removed. My new PA said no, it was a shave biopsy but don't worry because it was only mildly abnormal based on the lab report and not what she would call precancerous. Should I be worried or just trust her?

Thanks for any advice!

I think your dermatologists are trying, as they should, to tell you the truth without worrying you and have just succeeded in worrying you more by giving you slightly mixed messages. Are you able to get hold of a copy of the actual report to read yourself, and take it to another dermatologist for a third opinion. As you are worried I dont think this will resolve in your mind until you are happy.

My gut feeling is that you are Ok but go for another check in 6 months time. However, a worry like this can be very wearing and you need to clear it from your mind.
