Confusing reports on urethroplasty success rates
Posted , 5 users are following.
so ive been researching urethroplasty success rates online and most say that it has a 90% long term success rate, but a lot of people have said that their stricture came back after surgery... some after a few years and others at 10. this seems quite confusing and i dont know whats true and what isnt...
anyone know what the facts really are and whether or not their stricture recurred after surgery?

hi,
i think this can be better answered by your doctor. but if you wanted to go for urethroplasty please do a lot of research and chose best docotor to do the op.

do agree with Victor, a lot is down to the surgeon, most urologists are not specialized in urethral strictures nor of course in complex reconstructions, does
make a huge difference having the urethroplasty done by an elite recon urologist. Still remain the gold procedures for urethral strictures.

Just remember that this success rate is done by the surgeons themselves, they will always says that a treatment has a higher success rate then it actually does, they will bend the feedback from the patients to make it appear that it's higher.
A serious surgery and should only be done if you absolutely need it.
The success rate is higher with a more experienced surgeon. Choose someone who does these surgeries every week and has been doing them for 10+ years.
