Confusion about post surgery 'precautions'

Hello, i broke my femur (and 16 other bones) 3 years ago. I've been in pain ever since and could barely walk as my hip joint continued to collapse. I'm now getting a full hip replacement, FWB with anterior or anterior lateral approach (depending on how the surgeon will remove the existing hardware), i was given a leaflet. I did some research and found that the whole "don't bend more than 90 degrees, don't cross this or that" circus isn't needed with an anterior approach. So why am i being advised to follow the same precautions as for a posterior approach replacement? Is this simply the wrong leaflet or are they simply overly careful? Any advice would be much appreciated.

So far your good with those directions. Don't fall, shovel heavy snow( I learned the hard way), careful (VERY!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) on ICE. exercise after surgery with stretches and prescribed type of bends of legs and knee's They really scared the S... out of me not to fall and dislocate the hip. PERIOD! Good luck.

i had anterior approach and was given those precautions too including no squatting, no twisting etc.

i'd recommend you contact your surgeon's office and clarify

hmm yeah that doesn't make sense... the tendon doesn't get detached in an anterior (front) approach so there is much, much less chance of dislocation. I'll email the consultant, I don't like things that don't make sense and being put through needless torture.
