Constant Dreams

Hi

I just feel like I need to share this, so that I can get some advice on it. Every night for all of my life, I have been going to sleep and having dreams and the dreams are vivid and I wake up tired and unrefreshed.  I can't even have a snooze for a couple of hours without dreaming.  I wish I could go to sleep and then 'BLANK' and then wake up, is there a way of doing this? Or reducing the amount of times I dream or making it so they're not so vivid.

I assume you remember your dreams and that's how you know you're dreaming? If so, there is nothing wrong with that. Some people have their brains wired this way. You must accept this. I remember my dreams as well, to be more precise I wake up to two dreams a night on average and remember them --> and I noticed the more I worried about my sleep the more vivid dreams I would get. So I suggest you should think of the two following facts: 1) dreams help in consolidating memories, could say they are 'healthy' and important for your brain, 2) dreams boost creativity. Hopefully, the tiredness is a 'nocebo' effect only (lot of people who sleep normally but think there is something wrong with their sleep say they are not as refreshed as they could be). Not an expert advice, but hope this helps!

P.S. I have very positive associations with my dreams, e.g. when I am super drunk and I pass out I get this black out feeling ('BLANK' as you referred to it) time travel 7 hours in the future in ten seconds. Dreamless 'BLANK' sleep, needless to say how rubbish I always feel waking up!

Thankyou for your reply, I like the bit you mentioned about time travel.  Thinking about this, we all do it when we dream.  As dreams only last a few minutes, that's a few minutes equal to 7 or 8 hours sleep.
