Constant flu-ish feeling

does anyone else feel constantly flu-ish when they have a flare up?  It never develops into anything more, but I have this almost feverish feeling feeling in my head together with the normal aches and fatigue and it can go on for a couple of weeks.

Becky, I seem to have almost permanent flu-like symptoms. I no longer know which symptom is hormonal, or CFS or fibro or arthritis. I wake up in the night in so much pain I sometimes cannot move my body. I also suffer high blood pressure and because it was dangerously high, I have been on propanalol 160mgs for 2 years now xx

You have my sympathies.  Must be awful to have pain at night.  I'm trying my hardest to do everything I can to make myself healthier.  Not easy! When I feel like this, eating is a comfort and I really really don't feel like the exercise.  Nice that we can support each other though. And it does give me the encouragement to persevere.

Yes it's important and helpful to have each other so we can also share our fun times (like falling OUT the bath) with bad moments. Inside my mind I still want to be the energetic crazy fun loving 30something year old I once was. No more going down slides or sitting on swings for me - I would break them lol

I have high blood pressure since all this developed in September  but they haven't put me on any treatment as yet as my GP feels its because I need better pain management and feels the high BP is pain related. I notice recently I now have  quite bad tinnitus. I just feel like a hypochondriac as my list of symptoms are endless.

Your list seems endless because our symptoms seem endless. I too have tinnitus and have suffered with this for many years now. I get repetitive ear sinus and throat infections too. I felt so depressed and alone to begin with but now accept finally that all these symptoms are linked and I am certainly not alone with this and neither are you. Do you know what your recent blood pressure readings are ? X

Hello Gizmo, my recent readings were around 150/105. Whenever I am under any form of stress it just seems to spiral. Even a little bit of stress. I have a list of symptoms as I say. The tinnitus is awful and I wonder if it will ever get better. My main problem however with this FM is joint grating and grinding with severe stiffness. The other major symptom s having dreadful sleep. I wake feeling as though i haven't slept and often have nitemares and sweats xx

Julie I have every single symptom you mention including the nightmares and sweats. Have you been put on to any drugs yet to help you with your joint pain? The lower number of your blood pressure is high as well as the top number - is it always at that level even when you are calm? Mine went as high as 189/116 so has to be controlled x

My pain and not sleeping good enough, sent my blood pressure sky high years ago..it's all soo correlated..grr....thank God it's stopped now, I'm really feeling for you both..:-) xxxx

Yes Christine it's so hard having to deal with so many symptoms. Pleased yours has returned to normal xxx

That is high Gizmo. Mine has gone to that level before. As I say it spirals when I'm under any bit of stress. Even when I cry. It really helps to know someone else has my symptoms too. No as far as medication is concerned. I'm on codeine 60mgs three times a day as prescribed by my GP and Citalopram 20 mgs. I' am seeing the rheumatologist on Thursday. I've had to wait four months for this appointment. Apparently he actually specialises in FM. I was really well and healthy up until September, apart from a very operative thyroid in the past. I always wonder is this as a result of some virus/ infection . I haven't even been to work since this began and wonder what he will say as regards this on Thursday x

Hi Julie sorry for not replying sooner but been with my daughter and son for Mother's Day which cheered me up. Yes, I even waited 9 month once to get an injection in my spine. My next rheumy appointment is the end of next month which is also a 4 month wait. What part of the uk are you? I'm near London. I continued to work up until last March when my body just crashed and I became very ill. In November I made the decision to give up work as I knew I was not going to be well enough to return. X

Hello Gizmo, hope you had a nice day. I'm also near London in Herts.  I don't know whatvIm going to do about work as I too don't feel good at all or strong enough to doa days work. I'm here watchingvTV waiting to fall asleep. Have the TV on to try and distract me from the tinnitus. I really hate whats happened to me. It's changed my life for the worst in do many ways x

I was in Herts yesterday evening :-).if you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I am in bed too and seem to spend quite a lot of my days watching TV in bed and falling asleep again in the afternoon. The worst thing you can ever do is try to fight this condition as you will end up feeling worse. How long have you been off work now? X

Hello Gizmo, I'm 45. I've been off work now since Septmber. Getting very worried as to what I'm going to do as I depend on an income. It depends now on what the rheumatologist will say on Thursday. If he says I can work I really don't know how I'm going to do it. If he says that I cannot then there is a possibility I will get ill health retirement. Wow, what part of Herts were you in? Yes, I spend alot of time in bed. I just don't feel comfortable sitting for too long. Today Ihave a temp. Yesterday I didn't. Hope your Mothers Day was good x

It's horrible as our temp goes up and down all the time as our body loses the ability to control our temp. I was in Shenley last night near St. Albans where are you?

I'm actually not far away from Shenley at all. I'm in London Colney just on the outskirts of St. Albans x
