Constant headache behind ears worried out of my mind, please help!!!!

Evening,

I've had on & off headache behind my ears and down my neck for about 6 weeks, I've taken inbruprofen, muscle rub and ice/heat packs but nothing seems to make any difference. Sometimes I wake up with it and sometimes it creeps up during the day.

It makes me feel quite nauseous and lightheaded and I'm really worried that it's a brain tumour or something else. Has anyone else had similar symptoms ???

Hey Laura, is your jaw ok? I have TMJD and your symptoms are part of it. Google TMJD symptoms and if it's familiar speak with your dentist.

My jaw is fine and I was at my dentist yesterday - I just can't bare the nausea and the constant dull aching pain it just never lets up

I'm going to see a chiropractor next week and see if that helps atall, I hope it does I can't stand the pain I can barely concentrate

😭😭 did you have anything happen to cause this? I know what pain your talking about. My problem started with a near miss in the car, i got severe whiplash but just plodded on with pain killers. When i started getting severe headaches and neck/temple pain i went to a physio, it did help but even now , almost 2yrs down the line, i don't feel like my shoulders will go down, always feel like I'm not relaxing my shoulders!! The pain starts in shoulders, travels to temples, along my head above my ears to the back of my head, behind my eyes hurt all day/night.

They done an MRI and found that i had no cartilage in my jaw joint on the left side 😣.

Make sure you see the right specialist.

So sorry your hurting so bad.😣😣

Ice packs are my friend 😆

The only thing I can think of that may have caused this is when I saw my physiotherapist about 6 weeks ago he cracked my neck, ever since then I've had this pain. It was more on and off to begin with but now it seems to be hanging around all the time, I've reduced how many pillows I sleep with thinking it might help but it doesn't, I sleep using an ice pack as that gives some relief but only short term 😪😪

Laura, try ice just above your ears and be careful of rebound headaches from all of the painkillers. I put a hairband round my head and stuff it with ice packs, i try to stay away for painkillers, rebound headaches are chronic and a lot worse.

Do you think the neck cracking could have caused this pain?

That could be it!! The physio may have trapped a nerve. I would speak to your GP and tell them you've had this since physio. You may need an mri to check for compressed nerve 😣😣

I feel bad going to the doctors as I seem to be there a lot lately with sinus problems etc and I would feel embarrassed going again about something else

Honestly Laura go see your GP you need this checked. I wouldn't let anyone else adjust your neck or anything until it was checked 😔😔

Ok thanks Anne I will make an appointment with my GP for next week, so not a chiropractor yet then?

I don't want to scare you, but, did you not see the story on the news within the last week? Woman had her neck adjusted and they trapped a main artery 😣 blood couldn't get to the brain 😢😢

Surely if anything was serious it would have happened by now?? I'm really frightened now Anne and I can feel my anxiety coming on 😬

Oh sorry 😣 didn't want to freak you out 😢 don't panic you would have defo been in trouble before now but you could have a trapped nerve. Try rolling a towel and sleep with it supporting your neck. If your really scared get A&E to have a look at you. DON'T PANIC .

I've just booked a doctors online for Tuesday morning.

I've just googled it and I'm freaking out!!! But like you said surely if I was in any danger I'd know about it by now.

I've tried a rolled up towel in the past, I'll give it another go.

I get anxiety too so I'm in a real panic!!!
