Constant headaches in a 7 year old girl

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hello, my 7 year old Daughter has had a constant headache for 8 months, she grades it between 1-10 .  She has seen Paeds who have done all physical testing and drawn a blank.  She wakes every morning with the headache and it gradually increases over the day.

Today she got discharged from Paeds as they said there is no physical reason for them..... I am not convinced.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?  Any info you can share will be very gratefully received.

Thanks

Hi, I have been suffering for over 5 months and now we are getting closer to some results. Head pressure, pain behind one eye, stuffy sinus, runny nose and droopy eye. My neurologist thinks it’s hemicrania continua. I’m gettibg mri of my neck on Monday and a ct of angiogram of the neck. I hope this helps.

    Hi,

I am sorry to hear your daughter has terrible headaches, we are all sufferers on here so can sympathise with you a lot.  But I know sympathy is not what you are looking for its some answers, I hope I can help in some way.

When you say all tests do you mean MRI scan as well?  What can be uselful is to make sure she drinks pelnty of water as this alone can cause headaches.  (whatever I suggest please forgive me if this is being done already, I am not trying to insult you, just help you).  Next make sure she is eating well and normal bowel movements.  They give a medicine for children called Flunarizine which is for headaches and migraines and if you can suggest this to your specialist it could be helpful.  Not all hospitals have it, but they do in London.

As I am not a specialist I cant be much more help than that I'm afraid, but I know how distressing it is for children and parents when they are suffering with headaches.

I do hope she feels better soon and gets back to a normal life.

    Best wishes and take care.

Please let us know how you get on
