constant nausea/vomitting/acid reflux

Hi there,
I have been posting on my horrible journey on the mental health/anxiety forum but just realised this onewas on!
I always had digestive issues but for a year/half my condition has worsened to the point where I'm nauseous every single day, vomitting once/twice a week, sleeping 5/6 hours night if I'm lucky..
I am on omeprazole, 40mg a day, 10 to 15mg of motilium and add sleeping pills to the lot as I can't fall asleep as stomach so uncomfortable.
endoscopy and colonoscopy are fine, blood tests too..
I have realised lactose is best avoided but apart from that it is difficult to say, feels like everything and anything makes me sick.
Apart from toast and crakers. But I can't live like this forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would appreciate any advice.. I feel like giving up medication for a bit as nothing but motilium seems to help..
thank you!

thanks Philippa,
as im feeling sick all the time, I can easily spot the food that doesn't make me sick..basically dry starch..
Yes i have acute diarrhea, but i thought it was an omeprazole side effect.. it's probably a combination of that and stress..
Im waiting to get results from anemptying of the stomach test and will be referred to a specialist in IBS..
do you have this as well? What do you do about it?

I only get nausea if I have an IBS flare up with stomach cramps. Buscopan and Nurofen take away the cramps and then the nausea passes. I have also had constipation and loose stools. My symptoms are caused by stress.

An easy thing you can do while waiting for all the tests is to assume it is IBS and put yourself on a FODMAP diet. That is a diet that excludes or limits a gruop of carbohydrates called FODMAPS This diet was developed by the Monash University in Melbourne just for IBS. There are now FODMAP research and application centres at hospitals around th world so there is one near you. To start tomorrow search for FODMAP and find a site with a list of allowable foods. Its a bit confusing because many prohibited foods are not allowed. An apple a day may not be all that good for you but an orange a day is fine.
The diet had about a 75% success rate. It is intended to be a short term diet o exclude everything that might disagree with you until you feel good and then you introduce foods to see what upsets you. There are five (i think) foodgroups and your luck can vary from finding that only one of them upsets you to finding all five of them upset you.
The diet takes away some nice food but from what you say I expect that if you are on a tight diet for ever you will be happy to feel well again.
Monash university publish a phone app that you can buy over the web and I am told its very useful. It wont run on my phone but there is plenty on paper available.
In my case I dont have ibs but restless legs syndrome. For some reason the ibs diet appears to be a great help for the restless lgs. There seems to be some relationship between the two conditions as I have been told that many people with IBS also have RLS. I try not to ask why it works and just be happy thjat it seems to work much of the time.
If you decide to give it a try I hope it works for you.
Cheers
Graham

SWo sorry to hear that it has not been a magic cure.
I am not an expert (I'm an engineer) but I suggest you stick to FODMAP foods and lactose free milk no caffiene for a few weeks and keep a very accurate food diary. I have to carry my note book every where. It might provide a clue for the next specialist you see.
Good Luck

I get what you mean about toast and crackers I'm on the same. You are deffo right I cut out lactose and I feel a bit better.
Does the pain move around, mine does 1 minute its on the left and then the next day its on the right.

The problem with cutting out (say) lactose and feeling better is that the substances that might be upsetting you are more complex and in places you dont expect. The FODMAP diet provides a systematic and thorough way to find your problems.
For example I read of people who are following a good diet with lots of fruit and vegetables. Apples pears plums apricots .... are NOT allowed Brocholli onion garlic ... are NOT allowed but wouldnt you think they are all part of a healthy diet.
Do you have real milk in your coffee? Some people ignore that. Does your margarine contain a small amount of lactose? Dos your salad have any dressing? What's in the dressing?
Do you eat any bread other tHan that labelled FODMAP friendly? Biscuits
For it to work you have to think abouot everything that reaches your stomach
I dont know how much it will help you to go absolutely FODMAP but in 6 weeks you will have a good indication.
Get help from your GP and if you can afford a dietician then get help there as well.
Start a food diary so you record every morsel
Dont cheat You are only spoiling your own life.
Good luck and I hope you are one of the lucky ones who the diet helps.

Hey, did you find out what was causing this? I'd be massively grateful to find out as I'm currently suffering the same thing x
