Constant pain and no help with getting a diagnosis

Hi, I am looking for any advice at all please.

I have posted on this site a few times and have not had much responce I am hoping someone will be able to give me some advice.

I have been having porblems for months and months now and after the doctor finally giving up and saying it might not be IBS and could possibly be something more she said she is reffering me to a specialist and that my case was down as urgent.

This was about 4 months ago now and inbetween this I was taking into hospital my an ambulance with severe stoumach pain and bleeding from the anus only to be told my urine sample was fine and then filled with condeine and told to go home as they didnt have nay space for me which i was furious with as there is obviously something wrong. After this I went back to the doctor and asked if there was anything else that could be done as I was and still am loosing blood from my back passage (which they clearly think is fine) and she advised there was nothing more they could do in my doctors surgery as they have now reffered me and I have to wait for a letter.

Today I have now been told my case is down as urgent but I probably wont be seen until April which is another 5 months away yet and thats an urgent appointment apparently!

I dont understand how this isnt going any quicker I have pain in my stomach all the time and blood from my back passage on most days.

Myself and my partner really want to start a family but until something gets sorted we cant even think about it at the moment sad

I have tried going down the private route but insurance companies wont touch me as they class it as a pre existing conditon and I dont have the money to pay for it myself.

Does anyone have any suggestions or any sort of help please???

Thank You

hannah 10882..how frightening for you. As you have been examined, I assume, have they ruled out internal piles..or is the stomach ache something that happens after a bowel movement.  If your GP has examined you..blood tests, internal , back passage examination, and feels this is not life threatening, then, hopefully, when you see the specialist in April, you will understand from him what is actually wrong, and what can be done to stop the bleeding.  I must say, if the amount you are losing is more than say, a period, you may becoma aenemic, and, to be honest, waiting this length of time should not happen.  if you feel strong enough, that you cant cope, speak to your Doctor and demand that they deal with you sooner...or even go to your local Member of Parliament and make a fuss that this waiting list is disgudting and is making you feel worse with anxiety.  I am sorry I can not offer you any re assurance, only that, you have control, and use it to your own advantage if you feel you can not wait 5 months to be seen by a consultant make another visit to youre GP, or see another one for a second opinion.  Good Luck.Stomach pains can be made worse by worry, and you need to find out sooner than 5 months.

    Hello Hannah,

How outrageous that you have to wait so long. On the other hand surely if the doctors thought it was really serious they would see you quicker than that? This sounds like Ulcerative colitis, look it up on the net, don't worry it can be dealt with. You get bleeding with it. You don't say if you've had problems for a while or if this is sudden. Try not to worry, Polly is right it will only make things worse.

Hannah im so shocked to have read this, how could they exspect you to wait so long, what has your urine sample got to do with anal bleeding? April is far to long to wait considering the pain you are in as well. And yes id go  to your local Member of Parliament as Polly1951 suggested. do let us know how you get on.

If your appointment is urgent you should be seen within a short space of time..check up oin this but I think it is within 2-4 weeks. If you are in constant pain go back to A and E ..and if you lose a lot of blood go back..is it red or brown blood?

you can also contact the appointments clerk and ask that you want a cancellation so you can  see the consultant sooner.

good luck and keep us posted.

Hi. I read you post and I hope I can help with my own past experience of abdominal pains and bleeding. I first bled when I was about 16 years old (now 33) and had excruciating abdominal pains. I had every test going and was told there was nothing wrong with me. Then I was told it was either stress or IBS. I suffered for years and years and thought I would have to live with this forever.  I was never diagnosed with the real cause of my problems until 2 days before christmas 2013 when I suffered a perforated intestine and peritonitis a life threatening condition which I was lucky to survive from. The diagnosis was MECKELS DIVERTICULUM or DIVERTICULITIS. common symptoms will be abdominal pains and painless rectal bleeding. Please check these out on the net to confirm if you suffer from these symptoms. I cannot guarantee you have this but please do research it. In my case it caused a perforation in the small intestine and an emergency life saving surgical procedure with a very unpleasant 16 night stay in hospital and a very long recovery (still recovering today since this lead to an incisional hernia and further surgery).  I think you need to insist on having a CT scan as this may show up on the results. If it is indeed diverticulitis then surgery may be required. You might need to go to A&E to be seen quicker. I wouldn't wish on anyone what I have been through this year. If only I was diagnosed years ago.....  Please let me know if you found this helpful and what diagnosis you find out. Good luck! :o)
