Constant period with Mirena hormonal IUD

I've had a Mirena hormonal IUD for about a year and a half now and it's been great, after insertion my periods went away completely and I experienced no ill symptoms. Although since about January I have been bleeding constantly. I haven't experienced any cramps with this and the bleeding is very light. I've also checked the strings of the IUD and they appear to be still in place.

Is this normal? I thought everything settles with an IUD after about a year but I seem to be experiencing the opposite of this. I'm wondering if it will go away eventually but since it's been going on for months I'm starting to think not. So at this point I'm just looking for a solution, hopefully one that doesn't require the IUD to be taken out, but I will get it removed if this keeps going on.

Any help would be appreciated.
