Constantly bloodshot eyes, what could it be?

I'm 17, I wear monthly contact lenses and I use my computer everyday. I get a sufficient amount of sleep although my eyes are constantly bloodshot - many people have pointed it out. I'm not sure if it's the lenses that are causing it. When I put in my lenses, my eyes sting a bit.

A few months ago I went to the doctor as my eyes were completely red, you couldn't see any white parts, and I had extreme light sensitivity - I could barely keep my eyes open in a dimly lit room. The doctor said it was a viral infection but I'm not so sure about this as the symptoms have prevailed but to a less extreme extent.

Currently, I feel a little discomfort if I look at something bright and I don't remember the last time there were no red squiggly lines in my eyes. Sometimes it's worse, more red, but there are red lines all the time in general. I've attached some pictures.

What could be causing this? What can I do about it?

Possibly you are not blinking enough when you are using the computer and your eyes are beginning to dry out. This is becoming a world wide problem as more and more people become "addicted" to phones and computers. Try using screens as little as possible and remember to constantly blink to spread the tears. Give yourself at least 10 minutes break every hour and get up and do something else. Do try to nip this in the bud before you have full blown dry eye. Get some eye lubricating drops called artificial tears/ Hypromellose from the chemist/pharmacy and use as often as you like and especially before bed.
