Constantly having bowel movements?

Hello. I am not sure if I have IBS so I can move this discussion is need be, and apologies in advanced if this gets TMI.

For the past couple months I've been having to defecate constantly. Often, I will wake up with either diarrhea or a large amount of very soft stool. After that I have to go again maybe 5 or more times? They are long and thin stools, somewhat soft. It's not causing me pain but it is really hindering my life. I get anxiety going to work because I've had to leave my post to deal with diarrhea, and I keep turning down opportunities to hang out or sleeping over for the fears of this happening.

I eat a vegan diet. I try to eat healthy but I defiantly eat a lot more sugar than I should be (horrible sweet tooth) Maybe that is the cause of this.

Any suggestions? It's getting to the point where I am considering to fast on water and not eat for a couple days just to get some relief. My mom thinks its just because I am vegan but I don't think this is normal. Thanks for any tips xx

Another thing I forgot to mention is that I've noticed a lot of mucus at times when wiping. I am sorry if that is gross but I thought it might be an important fact to add!

I too have had mucus. My doctor told me this is a natural irritated colon protection and is normal.

Are you having any stomach pain that moves about and have you tried a food diary to see if food is the tirigger? Anxiety will worsen symptoms.  I would try Imodium to ease the diarrhoea.  Try cutting back on sugar especially sorbitol.  Mucus is also a symptom   It does sound like IBS if you have stomach too but see your doctor for diagnosis.

Thanks for the reply! I used it o get stomach pain every day when I was younger but I haven't very often recently. Now it seems to be replaced by nausea. I feel very queasy/unsettled most days like I could throw up.

A doctor will be able to run tests to identify the cause.

Your best bet is to see your doctor. Fasting on water can cause an electrolyte imbalance, anemia and make you weak and even feeling sicker. Cut out all caffeine, eat small amounts of plain white rice, do not drink anything while eating. Also, yogurt helps. Pedialyte helps balance your electrolytes........Your mom really needs to get you to a doctor to properly diagnose you and get you on a libs diet. Oh.....a banana helps, too. Sorry if I sound pushy...this is condition is a real pain and I can relate!

Thank you!!! I definitely want to see a doctor. I've had stomach issues for as long as I can remember, but the diarrhea problem is recent. If they could fix it somehow I'd be very grateful
