Constipated after internal piles

Posted , 5 users are following.

I have had bleeding internal piles on and off for the past 6 weeks .I have seen my doctor twice who prescribed suppositories. The bleeding has now stopped thankfully but I think I may be constipated .I have been having bowel movements but I don't think I have been fully emptying my bowels due to not wanting to force too much to irritate the piles . The last 2 days all I can get out is small pellets .I have suffered with constipation for years due to an underactive thyroid .I have upped my fluid intake and trying to eat more fibre but I think I need something more to help .any advice on what's best ??

    Hi Michelle ,

Yes the trick is not to get constipated , not sure which country you live in but I have a syrup type drink called Actilax which just makes it soft , I take it at night about 20ml works a treat also fresh pears are full of fibre , eat 2 a day and fluids as you know, plenty to drink , hope this helps

I had two hemorrhoids banded a few months ago and now have one more acting up and getting it banded in two weeks....the surgeon told me to take a glass of metamucil every day and I won't have any problems again and so far it's working well.

If you are in the US try Konsyl Psyllium instead of Metamucil. It's the same thing - only Metamucil has Aspartame in - like Diet drinks which is not good for you.

I am in Canada and able to get the naturally sweetened Metamucil it has no artificial sweeteners it doesn't taste the greatest but it's only once a day so no problem..but I will look for the one you mentioned we may be able to get it here
