constipated for 8 months, depressed, could i have colon cancer??

Hi all, new to this so here goes! Started back in April this year I got constipation all of a sudden (i have a swollen lymph node in my groin so i thought it was maybe something to do with that) went to docs as was constipated for a while and was put on movical, helped me to go once a week but constipated straight away again when i eventually did go! After numerous trips to the doctor she fobbed me off with more movical and begrudgingly referred me for a routine colonoscopy which has an 11 month waiting list! Im at my wits end, im bloated, windy, nauseous and so tired, my stools are a near black colour and i also have a bloody mucas, have made yet another appointment for docs but its in 2 weeks! my six year old daughter asked me if i was having a baby as my tummy was so  bloated! I feel so uncomfortable, my sex drive is zero and altho my partner understands its affecting him too! Have searched the web high and low and colon cancer keeps jumping out at me, any advice guys please?

Hi. Has your Dr mentioned a blood test? It's called a CEA test and you should have the results quite quickly. 11 months wait for a colonoscopy! Best of luck...

Hi john is that a test to check for blood cells or something she did mention that when i had a blood test it confirmed i had anemia so had to take iron tablets although this was several months ago! Yep its that long waiting time as the doctor put it through as a routine examination and not an urgent 1, feel like shes not listening to me at all! If i had the money i would go private!

It's a tumor marker. Best to google CEA blood test. And don't let anything scare you! A colonoscophy should show any growth and it might help to make a fuss or change your GP! My problem was shown by a CT scan and they operated very soon after that. All is well so far after just over a year. They can do amazing things these days. You might get replies from people who are more knowledgable than I am. It can be a very helpful forum. Best wishes.
