besides water which I drink a ton of----not really that effective, however prune juice or even better 4-5 prunes soaked in water overnight and add 1-2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed and drink warm. I know, vile but it works. You need to do this for at least 3 days to see some effect.
mag citrate or mag oxide( the latter is better). I get H2Go from lane labs on Amazon which is mag oxide and it is effective. Another product called Calm is also go which is on amazon. Shredded cabbage and carrots also help. You have to experiment since everyone is different.
i also take a stool softner to aid transit.
My doctor explained that in some people, especially women who are in peri or menopause the bowel motility slows down from lack of estrogen. I do take estrogen and it helps immensely, but do not know if you would take that just for constipation, the
cramping is probably from the constipation, since I had the same thing and once I "broke the log jam" it went away.
i have stayed away from Mirilax and other laxatives as it can habit forming and damage your bowels.
Since I have entered menopause, it has gotten worse if it was not for estrogen.
i feel like I am 98 years old with these bowel issues! I never thought I would be envious of my husband as he goesw ith ease...LOL!!
feel better and hope some of these suggestions work---I feel your pain!

Unreal I just started to get consipation this past week, but it may be due to the vicodin I have taken for breast pain, but I do know this and it does work I just remembered, when you drink water, drink from a glass and put a slice of lemon in it, it keeps your PH up and will stop the cramps, but I do know this constipation does cause back pain so water water and lemon xx
