Constipation - Advice Needed!

Posted , 2 users are following.

I'm 53 and in late perimenopause (102 days since my last period). In the last six months or so, I have had increasing issues with constipation. I can go seven days without being able to go. I eat lots of fiber, drink lots of water, and exercise daily. I'm convinced that it is hormone-related, as when estrogen drops, cortisol increases, which can lead to digestive issues, as can low progesterone. I have resorted to twice weekly laxative suppositories, which work brilliantly, but I am concerned about using them for months on end.

I'd like to hear from other women experiencing something similar. What have you been taking / doing? Does this symptom improve post-menopause?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Bev what helped me a lot is to buy about 20 prunes, blend them up in blender with water than open 2 magnesium citrate capsules in it. Drink a glass before bed .plus a glass of warm distilled water and a small bowl of raisin bran. Save the rest of drink for day 3 then repeat. Also daily take a probiotic. This will flush you out completely. Hope this helps.
