Go back to your GP and ask for further tests....and referral to a Gastroenterologist if nothing improving your situation.

If you are eating plenty of green veg like broccoli and cabbage each day - and an apple first thing in the morning, prunes and pears etc and lots of roughage ....and a walk afterwards ...and still no success the GP may give you Fibregel or similar to try......but follow it up.

I too have dealt with the exact same set of circumstances as yours over the last six years. Take over the counter docusate sodium 100 mg pills, one pill three to five times per day, plus over the counter sennakot AND YOU WILL NOT LIKE THIS PART, in addition to the above medicines, exercise, diet, etc., the only way to avoid the bleeding, straining, imp action, fissured retear, etc. is to carry on you at all times latex gloves and either mineral oil, or glycerin oil, you can buy a box of four small single use liquid glycerin squeeze tubes, for easy introduction of the glycerin into the rectum, the gloves are for the part no one likes, often when you just cannot get the stool out, you need to put a few drops on the preferred glove finger and insert into the rectum to assist the stool out, or break it up into smaller sections if impacted. Although distasteful this in total will at least regain some control for you, so you suffer much less, feel better, and are able to go daily after a few weeks of taking the pills. Family Dollar has the docusate sodium for only $3.25 per 100 count bottle. Good luck, it will get easier to manage this way. And we really have no choice.
