Yes. I've decided against surgery at the moment but she was willing to do it (in fact she wanted to do more than I was expecting!)
Surgery isn't always the best option but you should be entitled to a second opinion.

Hi Christine, Maybe this consultant doesn't think your rectocele is 'bad enough' just at the moment? This operation isn't something you want to have done if you can manage a little bit longer. Having had this surgery done myself three years ago I would imagine that better results happen if the rectocele is at a later stage. With me, nothing was cut. My surgeon folded over the excess skin and made a tuck or pleat which then was neatly stitched. I would go back to your family doctor if you want another opinion and discuss the first consultants findings and ask for another referral letter to see someone else. Lots of luck. LadyPink

Have you considered a pessary to eliviate your symptoms? Can you actually see your rectocele? I wouldn't have the surgery if I hadn't really needed it but get a second opinion or ask for alternatives to surgery.

I have not had those experiences hun. May be its different in the south coast. If I'm not happy with a consultant its your right to see another.
