Hi All,

I am a new member needing advice as to the best place to find consultants on varicose vein treatment.I am willing to pay for treatment but first need to have a consultation with someone who knows his or her stuff.I just want someone impartial and knowledgable.I wondered if anybody here had dealings with anybody like that?.I live in Suffolk,so nearest to would be good,

Thanks,

Peter

I went to someone who was recommended by my osteopath. I went privately and the vascular surgeon was great. The important thing is to get someone who does varicose veins all the time apparently, so they have had lots of practise.

Peter you need to look on the Internet there are vsticisev vein clinics in abyndance and then vascular specialists

if you go to a surgeon he will do surgery more than likely as that is his method but if you were to go to a different type of clinic they will offer alternative treatments which I wish I'd had done

one that is highly recommended is Richard Whiteley clinic he doesn't perform

surgery but he uses laser and other methods which are perceived to be better

I wish I had gone to him

I think vascular surgeons also offer laser or radio frequency procedures nowadays. The days of stripping are limited. I went to a vascular surgeon and had the VNUS Closure procedure which uses radio frequency. I also had foam sclerotherapy for some wiggly veins. The whole thing took about twenty minutes under local anaesthetic.

I have heard of him. I am not sure how good or bad he is as far as veins are concerned. Mine gave me a free initial appointment then charged a package price when I said I would go ahead. He was very booked up which I suppose was good news.

    Hi ptolemy,

According to the web he was involved as a consultant in the Dr David Kelly inquest,so i'm presuming he has credentials,
