Continuous chest infection/ cough

Since having the Pneumonia vaccine in October, I have had continuous chest infections/cough and felt very unwell. i have had 4 lots of different antibiotics and steroids, which have cleared the infection for just a few days. These bouts have been almost back to back and despite blood tests needing "no action", I am now experiencing the worst cough. coughing up loads of phlegm, extremely short of breath and panicking when I cannot catch my breath. GP says " no treatment necessary". tempted to attend A & E, but is this fair on those with medical emergencies? has anyone else experienced problems after pneumonia vaccine?

I have never had the vaccine, but if you are experiencing these problems you need to see another GP. Have you had a chest CT scan with contrast? It sounds like you may need further investigation.

I'm wondering if maybe you don't have bronchiectasis. The only diagnostic tool for that would be a CT of your chest. And it's most common symptom is excessive mucus and coughing. It's caused by Scar Tissue in the lungs from previous infections or smoking or just because.

Many thanks for replies. I will contact one of the other practices in the scheme and maybe see about going private. it is getting beyond a joke ...
