Continuous UTI pain and not going away! please help!

I’ve had a UTI for about a month now and been on two different anti-biotic courses. This is my second time ever getting a UTI in my entire life and it has not gone away, and the pain does not go away. And what frustrates me the most is that, it’ll feel better one day and when I have intercourse with my boyfriend, I wake up with the worst pain. Even when I’ve been showered before sex, peed before, peed after, washed myself with water after, you name it. What can I do to help the pain? Anyone have any ideas?

Have you had it confirmed that there was an actual infection, i.e. did the doc do a dipstick test or culture or did he just go on what you said?  If it IS a bladder infection  you really need to get it sorted without adding sex into the mix.  If it's not gone after 2 different ABs it may well be something serious - but I get the feeling it's not even a UTI.

You sound like you think this is linked to when you have sex.  You say you had a UTI previously so you know what it feels like, but your problem is that any irritation in your vulva may make you think you have a UTI.  From your description ("the worst pain"wink I get the impression there may be some pressure or irritation from the act of sex that is causing your problem, so be sure that you are using enough lubricant.  Coconut oil is natural (so no chemicals) and very effective - plus it will soothe any irritation if you apply it afterwards and next morning.

I hope you don't mind me asking if this is your first boyfriend.  There just maybe something about the angles you get that causes friction somewhere and perhaps it hurts a little at the time but you are too shy to say?  Don't be shy, it's your body so he can't know if he's hurting you.  If he loves and respects you he will be only to willing to try different ways to make it so you don't get hurt (if he doesn't care and just bashes away I should ditch him pronto!).

Also consider what protection you use. Condoms can chafe if not put on properly while the pill can cause dryness which leads to irritation.  You should also get checked for an STD - and have your boyfriend get checked as well (again, if he cares for you he will do this).  If you get sorted and he doesn't he could just give it back to you.

Look at this problem more closely to find out if it is a UTI or a sex problem.

    Good luck!

My doctor did a dipstick and then prescribed antibiotics! This also isn’t my first relationship or sexual partner, but it is the first time I’ve gotten a UTI (assuming that it’s linked to sex) after sex. I’ve considered all the options of what to do during sex to prevent the pain I am feeling, and I have changed it up. I always think of the possibilities of it not being a UTI and something sex related but then again we both (my boyfriend and I) have been tested and results for both negative for all STDs. And if I’m right, the UTI pain I’m feeling literally reads by the book, hopefully the remainder of antibiotics I have for this last course will work. If not, going to be more persistent at the doctor, they didn’t really take it serious. Was more of a blow off for them

Don't tlet your doctors get away with not paying absolute attention to your problems........

I had blood in my urine over two years ago and the comments were ridiculous from my doctors here in the UK.

My symptoms were not self limiting as per a male doctor who did not know that Nitrofurantoin is only fit for ladies UTI problems.  A lady doctor insisted that I had a cystoscopy to look into my bladder although I was strenuously refused antibiotics for the infection I knew I had.

I had ordered myself Septrin off the net and a USA sounding doctor or chemist rang me same day.

She asked were these tabs for myself and I replied yes they are. She listened to my problems and said the tabs were appropriate for me. I took them for ten days and the blood was then undetectable.  I started that course 9 months after obtaining them due to too much trust in those who did not deserve that trust.

Fourteen months later my symptoms returned worse than previously. I could hardly pass urine & that was after a month on doctors script of Trimethoprim. I asked why did they not give me the Ciprofloxacin which is stated as the first line for my problem that had occurred after all the months if not years of neglectful attention. After a couple of weeks on Cipro ( docs script I had no symptoms but got another two weeks on that as per again Mimms directive.    I have been fine but was told by a urologist that I cannot prove I have had an infection!  Such people as he will never admit a mistake because I had umpteen scans and tests which did not detect an infection.  I am also keenly aware that no culture has ever been carried out even when blood was seen in my urine..... I told the urologist that I feel something vital was missed when I felt I had an infection as well as seeing blood in my urine.  I aslo asked him where indeed have all my symptoms gone?   He understandably could not answer that one only to say it must have been coincidence.......

Every thinking person knows full well that there is no such thing as coincidence but that anything that occurs has a reasoning behind it........ Ther is no such thing as luck either ,not in the medical field anyway.....      So please get to see your doctor and be very forceful about it...... a UTI is not fun and he or she is not suffering as you are!
