Convinced I have a brain tumour.

Hi all,

So I've been suffering with lots of anxiety over the last few months and had many tests. Blood tests, hearing test, eye test, reflex test, small co ordination test, ecg, chest X-ray, throat X-ray, vq lung scan.- all okay!

Although I am convinced I have a brain tumour. I have been suffering with dizziness and lightheadedness long term for 8+ years and had an brain MRI scan 8 years ago.  But recently I keep getting a musty burning smell in my nose that lasts 1 second and then goes- I am congested in sinuses always so don't know if it is because of this? I also get the odd headache and pressure , ear fullness and tinitus and lots of eye floaters and glare. Are they missing something?? Am I?

Chances are you don't have a brain tumor. We all fear the worse with feelings of anxiety. It's our brains playing games with us. Get some anti anxiety meds and some kalonipin and the symptoms will wane with time. See a doctor soon and a therapist.

If you had a brain tumor, you would have severe headaches in a specific area and likely have seizures. You said you are congested in your sinuses, that can explain the pressure, headache, and ear fullness. Eye floaters are super common too, and not really an indication of a brain tumor. You can always ask your doctor and explain the symptoms you are experiencing, but I truly believe your health anxiety is the likely culprit here!

    Hi Fiona,

after all all those tests they definitely won't have missed anything. I have a lot of headaches and eye problems including floaters which can both be caused by anxiety. I also have dizzy spells.

If youve been suffering from the dizziness and lightheadedness for 8+ years it's definitely not a brain tumour. I know how hard it is to convince yourself that all your symptoms are down to the anxiety but I'm working really hard at it, at the moment I'm trying hypnotherapy.

    I wish you well.

I had chronic sinitus and it causes a lot of TERRIBLE symptoms pair it with anxiety and it will make you belive so many things.

I also get strange smells in my nose from sinitus. It used to freak me out too! It also causes ear fullness and odd headaches that aren't just in your sinus! I get sinus pain in the back of my head all the time and it makes NO sense but every time I get antibiotics it goes away so I Know it's sinus related.

We all have eye floaters, but when we have anxiety we become hyper aware. Make an appointment with an eye doctor if it will help you relax, but just know I struggled with the same thoughts when in the midst of anxiety, now that I'm not I have the same floaters and flashes... But it's just normal. I can see a bunch of them right now! Ive been to the eye doctor and he says it's so normal! Anxiety makes everything seem bigger than it is!

Try not to analyze everything. I know it's easier said than done, but you can trust your doctors if they think you are fine then you are!

Have you seen an ENT? I had sinus surgery a year ago and it was a life changer for me!

Headaches, eye floaters, pressure, ear fullness, tinnitus dizziness, lighrheadedness,

I had every one of those related to anxiety. Your symptoms are not common with brain tumor. Even weird Smells can be related to sinus infection.  You definitely don't have a brain tumor after all this time you would be very ill by now.

Work on managing your anxiety and symptoms will diminish or go away.
